Announcing…our 2015 season line-up, and special preview discount code!
We are delighted to return for the 2015 season with an expanded (de)tour line-up, building on our learnings from our 2014 #SummerofBeta. We are excited to move toward becoming a fully-fledged social enterprise, and to find new ways to multiply the good we can do. To thank you for your support and interest from our first season, we are pleased to offer you a discount on 2015 bookings! See details below.
New tours: five new walks are making their debut this June, including: urban planning – a running tour with Daniel Dumas, national iconography and branding with Andrew Champagne, consumerism and the shopping mall – a podplay tour with Megan Monafu, and science in the city with Pete Anderson. We are also launching a walk on brutalism, authored and led by architect Sarah Gelbard, in the coming weeks. Details to follow. Check back in early July for some other new offerings!
Returning tours: Our permaculture walk will be offered again this year, and we are working on some creative ways to bring back some of the others. Jessica Dunkin, social historian and author of the Play tour, has moved to Yellowknife, so the tour has been retired.
Special editions: We are excited to announce the return of Katrina Siks from Hidden Harvest Ottawa, a local company that focuses on urban edibles. Kat will lead a series of special edition Edibles walks on July 8, August 12, and September 9. You’ll learn to identify, harvest and prepare fruit and veg found in your surroundings.
Meetups: Based on feedback from our first season, we are exploring new ways of continuing the conversations that start on (de)tours, and creating opportunities to get involved in projects relating to our topics. We are pleased to launch Ottawa (de)tours Talks, and will post details about our first MeetUp soon!
To thank you for your support through our first season and onward, we are pleased to offer you a 25% discount on all 2015 bookings. Simply enter THANKYOU25 when booking tours online.
